What’s on in Ballarat – Winter

Welcome to Winter and to our new once a season blog post… What’s on in Ballarat! I was excited to read through the Visit Ballarat calendar for the Winter months. It’s definitely a time to forget the cold, rug up and get yourself, family and friends out and about! There’s so much to enjoy… from a cool, brisk walk around our Lake Wendouree to a warming hot chocolate at one of our fantastic cafes and don’t forget the amazing Winter events. All you need to do now is grab your calendar, put your feet up and enjoy reading this blog. You can then schedule in all the things you want to do in Ballarat this Winter.

Happy reading!

Into Light: 19th century paintings from the Musee de la Chartreuse

This exhibition of treasures from the Musée de la Chartreuse, the regional gallery for Douai in northern France, traces these developments. It ranges from the idealised classical imagery of the late eighteenth century, romantic seascapes and tranquil landscapes depicting the mills and canals of northern France, through to paintings which celebrate the effects of pure light and colour, and works which explore the lives of ordinary people, rarely seen in earlier painting.
